5 attributes of successful people

Life is an accumulation of our decisions, which is predicated on our life experiences and knowledge at any given time. Once we realize that we are responsible for our current circumstances, we can take control of our immediate environment by becoming proactive in our daily decision making. Entrepreneurship is all about keen decision making and calculated risk; the more a person submerges themselves in the ideology of entrepreneurship, the better they are equipped to make informed decisions that will inevitably lead them to the success they seek. I have yet to meet a sane, psychological, sound human being that desires failure.  Trust me, I have met a lot of crazy people, but even the crazies desire a certain level of success.  I am a student of success, and I have come to know that there are several attributes that one must have to obtain it.

Belief

There is a very thin line between belief in self and being delusional. I can safely say that I have never met a successful person that did not have extraordinary belief in themselves or in whatever product or service that they were developing or marketing. In a world full of naysayers and nonbelievers, if you do not have belief or confidence in what you are attempting to accomplish, you can bet your bottom dollar that no one else will either. We’ve all heard the aphorism, “People don’t buy products, people buy people.” To know this to be true, all you need to do is turn on your television and see what celebrity is cosigning which product. Belief in self and what you have to offer the world is the first step in achieving success. The belief and assurance come with the knowledge that you have invested the time and are diligently pursuing mastery in whatever you are doing

Fearlessness

I love the quote from Will Smith in the movie After Earth, “Fear is not real, the only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future, it is a product of our imagination causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist…fear is a choice” People fear many things and one of the fears that immobilizes a person is fear of failure. Failure is inevitable, we will all fail at something someday in our lives, albeit, this should not be the thing that prevents people from pursuing their goals. Successful people are fearless in their approach to life. They understand a very simple concept: nothing worth having comes without a certain level of risk. It’s better to fail at something than to regret not putting forth the effort to get what you most desire. You can learn more from failing than not doing anything at all because you fear that you will fail. Be fearless!

Obsession

Obsession is a tremendous attribute when it pertains to accomplishing your goals. Whether you are obsessed about losing weight or starting a new business, the more fervor you possess about any given goal, the more likely you are to complete it.  You will even become obsessed about creating more challenging goals that ultimately leads you to the type of fulfillment that derives from achieving one’s goals. Successful people think about their goals all the time, it is a thirst than cannot be quenched until their desire is in hand. Obsession—coupled with enthusiasm—can lead to person accomplishing great exploits.

Consistency

Would you believe that most people fail, not because they are inadequate in a specific skill, but that they simply lack the discipline to be consistent. They haven’t made whatever they are seeking to do an actual habit.  For example, if you desire to become better at learning computer coding, it would benefit you to set aside time in your day where you can hone that skill—uninterrupted.  As human beings, we tend to make up all sorts of excuses on why this couldn’t get done or why that couldn’t be done to justify why we fall short. However, at the end of day, if you truly want what you think and say you want, then you must be consistent.  Set aside 15-30 minutes and allow yourself to form habits that are consistent with the desired outcome.

Organized Effort

Organized effort is a successful trait that successful people have mastered. Effort without organization is wasted energy, which leads to a person drowning in the tide of just doing stuff for the sake of doing stuff. We tend to believe that if we are doing something towards our goals then it’s better than doing absolutely nothing.  Sometimes it’s better for you to sit down and organize how to get maximum results from the energy expended in each of your efforts. Not being organized will lead a person to wasting a lot of time, energy, and money.
